Manchester & District Ladies Golf Association

The Association began as the inspired idea of Mrs. Glascott of Didsbury Golf Club, who dreamed of creating a championship for female golfers in the Manchester area in 1902, similar to the popular Balfour & Houldsworth competitions for men.

While some initial skepticism arose, with one journalist suggesting it might be a touch too ambitious, the vision evolved into something even more special. Instead of a championship, the “Challenge Trophy” was born, setting the stage for a tradition of skill, camaraderie, and friendly competition that has flourished ever since.

“I’m honoured to step into the role of President for the upcoming year. Having twice served on the committee, I’m eager to contribute once again to this wonderful Association.

I look forward to connecting with members throughout the year during our competitions, and best of luck to everyone competing in this years Bell Cup.

Here’s to sunlit fairways and blue skies!”
