The 2026 Bunty Booth Competition once again proved to be a fantastic celebration of ladies’ golf, with players from clubs across the region coming together to compete at Ellesmere Golf Club.

The course was presented in excellent condition, providing a superb test for the field, and our sincere thanks go to the greenkeeping team, club management and all the staff at Ellesmere Golf Club for their warm hospitality and for helping make the day such a success.

A strong field of competitors produced some excellent scoring throughout the day, with several players battling it out for the top places. After all the cards had been counted, Shanica Sweeney of Stand Golf Club was crowned the 2026 Bunty Booth Champion with an impressive 32 points, edging out Leah Watson of Blackburn Golf Club on countback after both players finished tied at the top of the leaderboard.

The competition remained incredibly close throughout, with Bernie Quinn (Prestbury), Elaina Gray (Great Lever & Farnworth), Pam Taylor (Saddleworth) and Beverley Nicholson (Westhoughton) all finishing just one point behind on 31 points, highlighting the high standard of golf on display.

Congratulations to Shanica Sweeney on a well-deserved victory, and thank you to every player who took part and helped make this year’s Bunty Booth Competition another memorable occasion. We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year.
